Digital Technologies - Hamilton

What?
On the 1st May I attended a 'meet up' run by Kia Takatu a-Matihiko Digital Readiness. This was to help prepare us for the implementation of the Digital Curriculum

This session supports Year 1 to 10 teachers to explore how Kia Takatū ā Matihiko can help strengthen and make connections with programmes in your classes and school and look at how to support you in growing skills and confidence.

Outcomes

  • Making connections with current digital technology practices in your school
  • Exploring what Digital Technologies means within the Technology learning area.
  • Motivate teachers to engage with creatively with the new digital content
  • Explore Computational Thinking and Designing and Developing Digital Outcomes in context

So what?
I am part of the Digital Curriculum Work Group at Southwell School and this is part of my role. We need to ensure we plan and implement the curriculum. This is meant to be pushed out in 2020 but as we are a private school we have more time to ensure we are ready and well prepared to roll this out.

Now what?
We will continue to meet up as a group to plan how Southwell will implement this. We need to ensure we find time, not only to meet, but also to help get our staff ready to teach this to our students.
