Morphology

What?
Today we had a catch up session with Carla McNeil from Learning Matters where we had 3 different sessions. One on Morphology, one on (I am not too sure) and the final one was a catch up with Carla where we discussed some goals for ourselves.

So what?
Spelling was our key focus last year, and to be honest, one that has not kicked off so well this year in my class. I have completed part of my testing and need to get the rest finished so I can sort out my program. I have several dyslexic students this year, and some low spellers, so I need to make this more of a focus.

Now what?
My first goal was to complete my testing before the end of the term. I have tested all kids at stage 3 and recorded these results in the heat map. Now I have 10 kids to test at stage 2 and 4 to test at stage 4. It is important I test by the end of the term so I can use my holidays to mark put marks into my heat maps.

My second goal was to make spelling easy and be smarter - not only for me but for all teachers. I am going to try and record some sessions, flip the learning, so kids can manage more by themselves and not have to always rely on me to present it to them. Ideally this is something we could do as a school and build up a bank that everyone can use. It will be a little work at the start but each year will get easier and easier as we create more lessons.
