During the holidays I attended the Edtech Team Auckland Summit at Aorere College in Papatoetoe.
The two day EdTechTeam Auckland Summit gave me an opportunity to get creative with the latest in educational technology to help inspire and challenge young minds. I was able to explore tools and strategies to help me rise to the challenge of creating a classroom that gives every student the opportunity to be extraordinary and become a real-world problem solver
The conference included keynotes and breakout sessions on issues such as:
- A focus on real-world problem solving
- Help students become content creators instead of content consumers
- The latest educational technology tools
- Methods for transforming learning
- The creation of opportunity, diversity, and inclusion in the classroom
So what?
The conference offered both practical and effective strategies for the enhancing and differentiating classroom instruction including effective technology integration and engaging learners.
I had the opportunity to learn from internationally-known keynote speakers as well as fellow educators about new learning models, important issues, and new challenges facing today’s learners in our classrooms. I also had the opportunity to network with other educators.
Now what?
Over the next few weeks I will continue to digest the information I took in and read through my notes and presentations I attended. Some changes I have already made are:
- Question myself and what I do - am I being a relevant teacher?
- Not accepting - 'We have always done it this way'
- Hyperdocs - how can I make mine better?
- Look at format
- Is the information I have relevant?
- Include Answer Garden
- Digital Technologies Curriculum
- Have we got enough time?
- Do we need to try and get more time?
- How can we ensure every teacher feels comfortable?
- Time for PD
- Writing PD - is this something a couple of us could skip to work on DTC.
- School Robotics
- Where are we going?
- What do we want to achieve?
- Who are we targeting?
- Micro Bit
- Play
- Experiment
- Learn
- Book Bentos
- For me and my students
